Hemp Black (eco6)

Hemp Black / eco6 is a bio-based activated carbon pigment produced from hemp hurd — the woody core of the hemp stalk, which accounts for 65% of the plant's weight. Through a patented bio-charring process, eco6 carbonizes the hurd at high temperatures to yield a lightweight, low-density activated carbon powder. It is a drop-in alternative to petroleum-based carbon black across masterbatch & polymerization, printing & pigmentation, electronics, automotive, beauty, medical, and reinforcing agent applications. Technical specs: BET surface area 314.56 m²/g; pore size >2.1 nm; oil absorption 76 cm³/100g; pH 10.08. Hemp Black previously held a Cradle to Cradle Platinum Material Health Certificate (expired Dec 2021) and a Silver certificate (expired June 2024).
